Will there be another round of a federal stimulus or state-issued refund?
The Austin American-Statesman reports that officials have no confirmed plans for new payments for Texans. The outlet shares that any federal relief would require approval from Congress.
Some states have recently issued their own relief payments. As AFROTECH™ previously reported, New York is sending one-time inflation refund checks of up to $400 to more than 8 million residents throughout the state. Meanwhile, in New Jersey, the Treasury Department announced in September that it would send property-tax relief payments to nearly 300,000 residents, including renters, according to the New Jersey Digest.
Texas, however, has not launched a similar program, per the Austin American-Statesman.
At the federal level, lawmakers have not authorized a fourth round of stimulus payments, and the IRS has not scheduled any new direct deposit checks. President Donald Trump suggested rebate payments funded by revenue from recent tariffs or through a proposed plan by the Department of Government Efficiency, also known as DOGE, as AFROTECH™ previously reported. He said taxpayers could receive “dividends” of about $5,000 each. But officials have released no details or timelines, and they have taken no formal action.
According to the Austin American-Statesman, Texas does not collect a personal income tax. That limits its ability to offer income-based rebates like New York. Instead, the state provides relief through property-tax reductions and energy rebate programs. In 2023, Gov. Greg Abbott signed an $18 billion property-tax relief package, the largest in state history, the Texas Tribune reports. Texas lawmakers passed a similar plan in June 2025, with additional cuts up for approval during the November election, the American-Statesman notes.
As of mid October, neither the IRS nor Texas has announced any new IRS direct deposit stimulus or inflation-related payments. With that in mind, residents should monitor official guidance for updates on potential relief.
