Russell Westbrook has launched a platform designed to close the digital accounts of the recently deceased.

As AFROTECH™ previously reported, NBA players Russell Westbrook and Kemba Walker co-founded Eazewell alongside Donnell Beverly Jr., a former University of Connecticut NCAA player who serves as the company’s CEO. Having personally experienced the grief of losing loved ones, the founders built the platform to support others through similar challenges.

Since its launch in May 2025, Eazewell has leveraged AI-powered technology to help more than 100,000 families better manage the complex tasks that follow a death, according to information shared with AFROTECH™.

The platform deploys 24/7 autonomous AI agents and includes assistance with filing paperwork for death certificates and providing financing options for funerals.

“Traditional care providers have focused on the bedside, which is essential. Families today inherit more than property, family heirlooms, and money; they inherit an average of 100 digital accounts,” Beverly Jr. told AFROTECH™.

Now, Eazewell is scaling its service and launching additional assistance through its new AI-Powered Care Transitions Platform. According to a news release shared with AFROTECH™, it caters to hospices, senior living communities, and life insurers and will support final transitions, account management, documentation, and family communications.

“Eazewell’s AI takes on that administrative chaos by closing accounts, filing forms, and assembling clean claims so that nurses, hospice workers, and insurers can focus on care while families focus on grieving. We turn weeks of phone calls into a guided workflow that is finished in days, rather than months,” Beverly Jr. said in an interview with AFROTECH™.

According to information shared with AFROTECH™, Eazewell’s AI will streamline tasks for senior living, such as canceling utilities, forwarding mail, and managing account closures. In the event of a resident’s passing, it will keep families informed with timely updates on account closures and notifications. Hospice centers will benefit from 24/7 communication capabilities, including real-time updates on visits and care. Life insurers will gain efficiency as AI notifies the Social Security Administration, Medicare, and banks, while also assisting with locating documents and providing context to support claims.

“Working with hospices and insurers showed us this is not just a family problem; it is an institutional one. When our AI reduces that friction, staff satisfaction improves, claims move faster, and families report feeling supported around the clock. The connection between compassion and efficiency has been even stronger than we expected,” Beverly Jr. told AFROTECH™.

Westbrook commented in a news release shared with AFROTECH™:

“Grief doesn’t follow business hours. Our platform ensures families get support when they need it, whether it’s 2 a.m., weekends, or holidays, while letting care teams focus on comfort rather than paperwork.”

According to the release, Eazewell has also launched an early access program to streamline operations across its targeted sectors. It reduces staff time spent with family members and decreases callbacks for hospices. In senior living, it enables faster move-ins and move-outs while improving family communication scores. For life insurers, it increases the volume of “clean claims” and shortens the number of call-center contacts per claim.
