Louis Vuitton has officially announced the launch of La Beauté, the brand’s first-ever cosmetics collection.
The debut was unveiled on Instagram, highlighting the collaboration with Pat McGrath, a Black British makeup artist and founder of Pat McGrath Labs, who will serve as creative director for the new collection.
“Working backstage for over 20 years at Louis Vuitton fashion shows, I am thrilled to now play such a key role in the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, which is the result of extraordinary craftsmanship, creativity, and innovation,” McGrath said in a Pat McGrath Labs press release.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, the La Beauté line features 55 lipsticks — called LV Rouge — formulated with hyaluronic acid, shea butter and scents derived from rose, jasmine, and mimosa. They are available in satin and matte finishes. The LV Baume collection offers 10 tinted balms designed for buildable color and up to 48 hours of hydration. Like the lipsticks, these balms include hyaluronic acid and shea butter and carry a light raspberry-mint scent. LV Rouge and LV Baume are priced at $160, with additional refills available for $69, per Harpar’s Bazaar.
Rounding out the debut line are the LV Ombres eyeshadow palettes, which include eight compact palettes, each with four shades ranging from matte to glitter finishes. Palettes with cases are priced at $250, with refills available for $92.
Louis Vuitton has also designed luxury accessories for the collection, including perfumes, small leather goods and elegant cases for storing the products, according to Harper’s Bazaar. Digital preorders for La Beauté begin Aug. 25 on Louis Vuitton’s website, with the full collection available globally starting Aug. 29.
McGrath has been described by Vogue as one of the most influential makeup artists in the beauty and fashion industries. She has set global sales records with Pat McGrath Labs, including becoming Selfridges’ top-selling beauty brand during its April 2019 in-store debut, as mentioned on the Pat McGrath Labs website. Over her career, she has created iconic runway looks for Dior, Prada, Armani, and John Galliano, and also served as beauty editor-at-large for British Vogue, among other roles.
In 2021, McGrath was the first makeup artist to be awarded D.B.E. Dame of the British Empire for her services to the fashion and beauty industry and diversity, the website also shared.
