Cxmmunity Media has secured funding that creates more opportunities for new talent in gaming.

As AFROTECH™ previously told you, the Black-owned media technology company has a track record of creating opportunities for the youth. It is responsible for launching the first HBCU Esports League, in partnership with Amazon’s Twitch, which garnered over 53 million live views and led to more than $2 million in scholarships, according to information shared on Cxmmunity Media CMO and co-founder Chris Peay’s LinkedIn.

Building on its momentum, Cxmmunity Media has received a six-figure strategic investment to support its philanthropic arm, which is “dedicated to increasing access and long-term opportunities for emerging talent to enter the gaming, esports, and digital entertainment industries,” Variety reports. Live Nation Urban is responsible for the funding, delivered through its partner company’s Black Lily Capital Investment Fund, intended to support Black entrepreneurs.

“Our partnership with Cxmmunity represents a commitment to the future of next-generation media,”
Live Nation Urban President Shawn Gee said.

“The leadership team has created a scalable business model at the crossroads of gaming, technology, and culture, led by visionary founders who are pushing the industry forward. Through Live Nation Urban’s Black Lily Capital Investment Fund, our mission is to strategically support companies like Cxmmunity with the resources they need to grow, and we’re excited about the opportunities we will build together,” Gee continued.

The investment will also allow Cxmmunity Media to expand its content and live activations such as “The Kickback” on Dec. 10 and the “Atlanime” event on Oct. 18.

“Partnering with Live Nation Urban marks a defining moment for our company,” Cxmmunity Media Founder and CEO Ryan Johnson said, according to Variety.

“Together, we’re unlocking new possibilities to scale our live events, deepen access to world-class talent, and leverage first-party data to shape more meaningful cultural experiences,” Johnson continued.

Cxmmunity Media Co-founder, Peay told the outlet:

“We’ve landed some major partnerships in the past, but this one feels right. We set out to shift the media landscape—and we did. Now, with Live Nation Urban, we’re not just pushing our culture forward, we’re changing what Black entertainment looks like today. It’s not just about being the biggest. It’s about being the most impactful, and that’s exactly what we intend to be.”
