NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley is expanding his business ventures with a new 6,800-square-foot steakhouse and cigar lounge at Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia, PA, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The property’s owner, Boyd Gaming Corp., has not yet announced the name of the steakhouse or its official opening date. The company confirmed Barkley’s involvement and said the new venue will be located near the casino’s food court.

Barkley, who played eight seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers after being drafted in 1984, said in a statement that he wanted to “bring something new” to the Philadelphia area, which he described as a place that has “always felt like home.”

“We’re creating a spot that’s fun, comfortable, and full of personality,” Barkley said. “I want it to be the kind of place where people can unwind, share a great meal, and feel that same energy and connection that make this community so special.”

According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, plans for the project include a modern design that incorporates memorabilia and personal items from Barkley’s basketball career. The cigar lounge, called The Humidor, will feature a walk-in humidor, private lockers, and a bar.

As part of the partnership, Barkley’s liquor brand, Redmont Distilling Co., will be featured at the new establishment, per the outlet. This follows a national partnership between Boyd Gaming and Redmont to include the spirits brand across Boyd properties.

Valley Forge Casino Resort General Manager Martha Morales said Barkley’s involvement reflects his long-standing relationship with the region. “Charles Barkley’s personality, charisma, and love for Philadelphia make him an incredible partner,” Morales said in a statement.

The steakhouse and cigar lounge are part of a multi-million-dollar renovation at Valley Forge Casino Resort that includes hotel room upgrades, a redesigned gaming floor, and a new all-day dining concept, Philadelphia Business Journal reports. The project marks the first major update since Boyd Gaming acquired the property in 2018 for $280.5 million.

Barkley, an Alabama native, played for the 76ers until 1992 before joining the Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets, and then retiring in 2000. Since that time, he has become a well-known NBA analyst and television commentator, including his work on TNT’s “Inside the NBA.” He also launched Round Mound Media, a production company, in 2024, as AFROTECH™ previously reported, and invested in businesses while contributing to educational institutions.
