A business incubator curated for founders and technologists just touched down in Fremont, CA, according to Startup Weekly.

Rohan Brown is executive director of Innovate Bay, the on-campus incubator at San Francisco Bay University (SFBU). According to information on his LinkedIn, he was appointed to the role in April 2025 and oversees strategic partnerships, program development, and founder support. As head of the incubator, he ensures participants receive the tools, mentorship, and capital to scale their efforts.

“This incubator isn’t just for student founders — it’s for the entire Bay Area, with Fremont at the center. The vision is bigger than a university program: It’s about turning cities into true innovation engines by connecting founders, technologists, and partners to real opportunities, resources, and markets,” he said in a LinkedIn post.

Innovate Bay offers educational resources to help founders in their early stages navigate topics such as “validating ideas, structuring equity, legal frameworks, fundraising, and pitching,” Startup Weekly lists.

It will also target startups in the following areas:

  • Internet of things
  • Blockchain applications
  • AI
  • Cybersecurity
  • Sustainable logistics
  • Cleantech
  • Digital inclusion technologies

With these concentrations in mind, Innovate Bay strives to center customer momentum and real-world startup progress.

The incubator is being supported by the City of Fremont, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, and Startup Grind, per Startup Weekly.

In a LinkedIn post, Brown shared that Innovate Bay held its ribbon-cutting ceremony the first week of September with the support of Fremont Mayor Raj Salwan, former Mayor Lily Mei, elected officials, Heather Herrera, and San Francisco Bay University President Nick Ladany.

“Innovate Bay is one of many exciting developments that SFBU is in the process of instituting to best position our students and faculty to leverage the latest in technology, particularly artificial intelligence, to their advantage,” President Ladany said, according to Startup Weekly.

Brown added:

“This moment represents more than just the opening of a physical space — it’s the beginning of a new chapter for innovation.”
